Raising a Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy requires time, limitless patience and a healthy sense of humor. They're mischievious, active, sometimes mouthy, independent, physically strong, mentally sensitive, food motivated, and very, very loving! They learn quickly and easily, but keep in mind that what they learn may not be what you intended to teach them. Ridgebacks require that their humans practice sound, positive leadership techniques when training, otherwise they'll learn to take control.
Omega litters follow months of planning with careful consideration for temperament as well as health, and physical quality. Breeding to the standard is a must! Screening for potential inheritable disease is a must!
 Our puppies are:
- from parents that are tested for inheritable disease prior to being bred
- screened for dermoid sinuses from birth on
- raised in the home
- weaned to a bones and raw food diet
- minimally vaccinated for their protection
- highly socialized
- Puppy Aptitude tested at 7 weeks
- placed with their new owners after 9 weeks of age.
A Rhodesian Ridgeback is a very clean and attractive dog, but is definitely not appropriate for every family situation. New puppy owners must plan to live with their Ridgeback for his 12-13 year lifetime - in good times and in not-so-good times. The Omega puppy package includes us as a resource - here to answer your questions and help resolve any problems. Our puppy owners are required to:
- commit to a GROUP behavior/training class before the age of 6 months
- raise their puppy in the home as an integral member of the family
- plan to fence a safe area for their new family member
- read about canine behavior and understand the character of the Rhodesian Ridgeback
- spay/neuter their pup between the ages of 10 & 12 months unless otherwise agreed upon
- provide the love and attention that a Rhodesian Ridgeback is worthy of for his /her lifetime!
